The Brief
Chilham Castle is a historic country house in the heart of Kent. There has been a castle and then a house on the site at Chilham for over eight centuries. The house was built in 1616 on the site of a medieval castle and has been lovingly restored by its current owners.
Their existing website was very plain, with an uninspiring layout, long difficult to read pages and a clunky backend system that made it very difficult to maintain.
They were looking for a beautiful website that would celebrate the history and character of the house and its stunning gardens. The house is a private residence, so they were keen to emphasise this, while also promoting the attractions and events there that are open to the public better.
The Solution
We created an attractive website that featured their wonderful photography as a focus point. Updated the history sections of the site to create an interesting and very readable picture of the previous owners of the house and a clear Event and Venue Hire section so visitors can see at a glance when the gardens are open, or other events at the Castle throughout the year.
We also include a section on the local area and Chilham village to encourage tourism in the area.
The site is custom built with WordPress as its CMS, so it is easy to use and update.
